As he was in 2006.

In August of 2010 Steve was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. PSP “is a neurodegenerative brain disease that has no known cause, treatment or cure. It affects nerve cells that control walking, balance, mobility, vision, speech, and swallowing. Five to six people per 100,000 will develop PSP.”
Many times PSP is diagnosed as Parkinson’s.

However, now that we know more about the disease, he was displaying symptoms early in 2008. But at that time we didn’t know what was happening.
In 2011 he participated in a PSP environmental study at the University of Utah, with the hope of making some contribution to finding out more about this horrible disease and helping others in the future.
He has fallen many times, had stitches, bruises and a dislocated shoulder.
There has been rapid decline in the past year. Currently he is in a wheelchair 95% of the time, his speech is now very slurred and almost impossible to understand and he needs assistance with all normal daily activities. He has lost about 60 pounds in 12 months.
Basically he is a prisoner in his own body.
