Jeffrey N. Halsey

CENTER HARBOR — Jeffrey N. Halsey, 52, of Keyser Road, died suddenly Aug. 25, 2001, at his home.

Born in Orange, N.J., on Jan. 5, 1949, he was the son of Charles W. Sr. and the late Betsy (Douglas) Halsey. He grew up in New Jersey. He attended Far Hills Country Day School in Far Hill, N.J., the Forman School in Connecticut and graduated from the former Belknap College in Center Harbor. He has been a resident of Center Harbor since 1969.

He donated to many charities including the restoration of the fountain in Center Harbor. He enjoyed restoring homes and automobiles and maintaining his properties.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia (Gilman) Halsey of Center Harbor; a son, Shane Halsey of Laconia; his father of Lebanon, N.J.; three stepchildren, Ian Lawrence of Allston, Mass., Portia Lawrence of New York City, N.Y., and Chelsea Lawrence of San Francisco, Calif.; granddaughter, Paige E. Halsey of Meredith; three brothers, Charles W. Halsey Jr. and Edward Halsey, both of Lebanon, N.J., and Jonathan D. Halsey of Center Harbor; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was a kind and generous man, “A friend to all.” Family and friends are invited to Jeff’s home on Keyser Road, Center Harbor, for a gathering of remembrance on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the home on Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lakes Region Conservation Trust, Meredith, NH 03253.
