Lou McCloskey

Louis A. McCloskey Jr.,”MAC”, age 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in Kingston, PA to the late Louis and Wanda McCloskey.

Lou was a 1971 graduate of Belknap College

 

He was a true patriot serving his Nation, State and Community as a member of the Delaware Army National Guard. His military career spanned over 31 years of service beginning in 1971. He rose through the enlisted ranks and retired as General. During his career, he earned many decorations and awards. After retiring in 2002, he went to work for the State of Delaware in Facilities Management and then onto the Veterans Administration until he retired in 2012.

Louis was an avid sports fan. Some of his favorite teams were the Phillies, Flyers, Penn State Football and Denver Broncos. Louis also enjoyed hunting, fishing and time at their beach house with his family.

Louis was survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 11 years, Lynn, and all of his children: Peggy Wilson (Dave), Stacy Gautier (Jeffrey), Lou (fiancé Jen MacKay), Stephanie Nutter (Skip), Geoffrey (Dana), Brian “Buzz” (Danielle), Casey Crossan, Jason, Patrick (girlfriend Alexis Doss); his 18 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; sibling Ruthann Fedorchak (Peter), his friend/former wife Joann DellAversano (Charlie Schauber), his loyal dogs Izzy and Desi and grand-dog Ned, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Louis is predeceased by his late wife Candace and step-son, Jeffrey Winterringer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Louis’ viewing from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Resurrection Parish at 10:30 am on Monday, November 20, 2017 followed by burial at Veteran’s Cemetery.
