Matt Epstein

Matthew Jay Epstein, age 74, of Dighton, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2022 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Jeanette (Owen) Epstein, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, and son of the late Gerald and Rose (Zimmerman) Epstein, he spent his youth in New York, moving to Rhode Island in 1966 and settling in Dighton in 1987.

Mr. Epstein was the owner and operator of Nova Construction, Inc. for many years before retiring. He worked on numerous homes and projects in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, he was more than a contractor but a close friend of every family he worked for.

A hippie at heart, he was an avid photographer, fisherman, sailor, and collector of watches, and tools. He taught his daughters the art of taking your time, a thorough work ethic, and just the right ways to make someone smile. In between jobs, he could be found blasting music, wearing a Hawaiian shirt, and soaking up the sunshine. He loved his wife, their dog, Roscoe, and two daughters who he was extremely proud of, often looking for ways to talk about them with all who would listen.

In addition to his wife Jeanette survivors include two daughters, Lindsey Epstein and her husband Christopher Rovinski of Tiverton and Jessica Epstein and her partner Wade Slitkin of Brooklyn, NY; three sisters, Nancy Owen and her husband Charles of Rehoboth, Sharon Rhodes and her husband Don of North Providence and Debra Hughes and her husband Aaron of Dover, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews and their children.

Funeral and burial will be private.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in both his honor, as well as his father’s, may be made to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 1120, Framingham, MA 01701

Arrangements are in the care of Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, Providence.

For condolences,
